Dilston Scout Campsite is near Corbridge, off the A695. Join the CME (A167(M)) heading into the west end of town town. At Cowgate (end of CME, by Morrisons after the 50mph then 30mph speed limit change), stay in lane 2 (lane 1 being the bus lane), and continue until you get to a roundabout, where you will take the 1st exit onto Silver Lonnen. This road is the A19. Follow this road for upwards of 20 minutes, staying straight including over roundabouts. Keep left and follow signs for Corbridge/Riding Mill. Look for a parking bay with a Northumberland flag at the end of the bay. Shortly after this flag, come off the A69 at the STYFORD Roundabout taking the second exit - it has a blue sign advising the weight limit for Corbridge Bridge. Follow this road which will take you into Corbridge itself. When you pass the Shell Petrol Station, take a left at the filter lane (lane marking EXHAM) and cross Corbridge Bridge. At the roundabout, take the second exit (right; for Hexham B6321).

After the dual carraigeway becomes a singlecarraigeway again, you will see some hedges on the left for a house folloed by a bridge. In the distance are chevrons directing you right. At these chevrons you must turn left to get into the campsite. It is signposted "BOTANIC GARDEN" on a brown sign. Follow this road and you will enter the campsite.Google Maps - Dilston Scout Campsite
Young people are assigned tents based on their section and gender. We do not mix genders in tents. There will be a combination of younger and older members of each section in each tent for support and guidance. Beavers and younger Cubs may share a tent. Adults are in separate tents. All tents are provided by the group.
You must inform us of any medical conditions your child has. Failure to do so may result in your child being sent home. We have multiple trained first aiders on site at all times who can administer medication and provide first aid. Note that we cannot administer any medication without written consent from a parent or guardian, and preferably a prescription label. We do not have the facilities on site for refrigerated medication.
Please make us aware of all allergies and other dietary requirements (including vegetarian and halal requirements) by 9th June. We guarantee to cater for all dietary requirements if we are informed by this date. We cannot guarantee to cater for dietary requirements if we are informed after this date.
Select "Get in Touch" above to find out how to contact us before, during and after Mission Survival. We will provide a contact number for the weekend closer to the time. Please note that we may take a while to respond to messages during the weekend as there is limited signal on site. We will respond to all messages as soon as we can. If you have an emergency, please call the emergency contact number provided.
Home sickness is common, especially for younger members and those on their first camp with us in a new environment. Sometimes, even the most experienced and excited campers can miss the comfort of their own bed.

We have a team of experienced leaders who are trained to create a supportive, welcoming and reassuring environment for all young people.

Often, once young people get stuck in with activities, meet up with their friends or try something new, homesickness disappears. We will always encourage young people to talk to us about how they are feeling and we will do our best to support them.

We'll keep in touch if homesickness is strong and we think it's best for your child to come home. We will always contact you first before making any decisions.
We have multiple trained first aiders on site at all times who can administer medication and provide first aid. We have a first aid tent on site and a first aid kit with us at all times. We will always contact you if your child is injured or unwell and we think it's best for them to come home. We will always contact you first before making any decisions.
Everything we do as a group follows our safeguarding policy.

We take the safety and wellbeing of young people very seriously. Every adult on site has a valid Enhanced DBS check and has completed safeguarding training. For full details on our safeguarding procedures, please review our safeguarding policy, or click the "Find out more" button at the bottom of this page under the "Young people first" heading.
Yes. We have £25,000,000 public liability insurance which covers all activities and events we run. We also have insurance for all equipment and property we take with us. All young people (including siblings and non-Scout young people on site) are covered by our insurance, as are all adults on site.

However, your child's personal belongings are not covered by our insurance. We recommend that you do not send your child with anything valuable or expensive (including mobile phones, tablets, games consoles, etc.).

Our insurance also covers cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, such as extreme weather (including persistent heavy rain, high winds, snow, etc.), illness or injury of key leaders, or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always contact you if we need to cancel the camp. In this case a full refund will be provided.
If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible. We will provide a full refund if you cancel before 1st June. We cannot provide a refund if you cancel after this date, unless in exceptional circumstances. We will always contact you if we need to cancel the camp. In this case a full refund will be provided.
We discourage early collection as it can be disruptive to the young person and the rest of the group. However, we understand that sometimes it is necessary. If you need to collect your child early, please let us know as soon as possible. We will always contact you if we think it's best for your child to come home. We will always contact you first before making any decisions.
As above, we discourage late drop-offs as it can interrupt the start of the camp for the young person and the rest of the group. However, we understand that sometimes it is necessary. If you need to drop your child off late, please let us know as soon as possible. If you're running late on the day, don't worry! We are aware that getting out of Newcastle can be difficult and time has been built into the schedule to allow for traffic, late arrivals and any other unforeseen circumstances.
