17th Newcastle Scout Group

Adventure.Friendship.A place to belong.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts every week at St George's Church in Jesmond. There is a place here for young people — and for the adults who make it happen.

Young people join the section for their age and move up as they grow. Every section meets at St George's Church Hall.

Aged 14 or over? Explorers is run by the district across the city.

Life at the 17th

Somewhere they're known

The same hall and the same faces every week, run by volunteers who know every young person by name. Over 60 young people come together at St George's to try new things, make friends and get outdoors as much as we can manage.

Every section spends nights away each year, from a sleepover in the hall to camping weekends with the whole Group. And the 17th is one of more than twenty Groups across the City of Newcastle District, so there are camps and days out with young people from the other side of the city too.

  • Young people taking turns at archery on a camp field.
  • Four young people standing in the woods by a river at camp.
