Common questions from parents and carers about Mission Adventure.

Drop-off for Beavers is at 9:00am on Saturday 27th April. If a beaver has a sibling in Cubs or Scouts, get in touch with us to discuss drop-off and pick-up arrangements.
Drop-off for Cubs and Scouts is at 6:00pm on Friday 26th April.
Pick-up for all sections is at 12:00pm on Sunday 28th April.
Our recommended route is travelling northbound on the A1 up to Morpeth, exiting at the turn-off for Ashington (and Morpeth). Turn left at the roundabout, then right at the end of the road. Follow the road until the end then turn left. Follow this road for 3 miles (it bends sharply to the left about 1 mile in).

About 3 miles in, you will see a mildly graffiti'd stone farm building. Carry on past thisfor another 0.3 miles, and when you see a white house to the left, turn left into the campsite which is 20 meters down the road. There are two wooden gates, both showing the same sign. The entrance is the first one (NOT down the grass track).

There will be an adult at the entrance to guide you to the drop-off point.

Young people are assigned tents based on their section and gender. We do not mix genders in tents. There will be a combination of younger and older members of each section in each tent for support and guidance. Beavers and younger Cubs may share a tent. Adults are in separate tents. All tents are provided by the group.
You must inform us of any medical conditions your child has. Failure to do so may result in your child being sent home. We have 7 trained first aiders on site at all times who can administer medication and provide first aid. Note that we cannot administer any medication without written consent from a parent or guardian, and preferably a prescription label. We do not have the facilities on site for refrigerated medication.
Please make us aware of all allergies and other dietary requirements (including vegetarian and halal requirements) by 1st April. We guarantee to cater for all dietary requirements if we are informed by this date. We cannot guarantee to cater for dietary requirements if we are informed after this date.

Home sickness is common, especially for younger members and those on their first camp with us in a new environment. Sometimes, even the most experienced and excited campers can miss the comfort of their own bed.

We have a team of experienced leaders who are trained to create a supportive, welcoming and reassuring environment for all young people.

Often, once young people get stuck in with activities, meet up with their friends or try something new, homesickness disappears. We will always encourage young people to talk to us about how they are feeling and we will do our best to support them.

We'll keep in touch if somesickness is strong and we think it's best for your child to come home. We will always contact you first before making any decisions.

Everything we do as a group follows our safeguarding policy.

We take the safety and wellbeing of young people very seriously. Every adult on site has a valid Enhanced DBS check and has completed safeguarding training. Yes. We have £25,000,000 public liability insurance which covers all activities and events we run. We also have insurance for all equipment and property we take with us. All young people (including siblings and non-Scout young people on site) are covered by our insurance, as are all adults on site.

However, your child's personal belongings are not covered by our insurance. We recommend that you do not send your child with anything valuable or expensive (including mobile phones, tablets, games consoles, etc.).

Our insurance also covers cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, such as extreme weather (including persistent heavy rain, high winds, snow, etc.), illness or injury of key leaders, or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always contact you if we need to cancel the camp. In this case a full refund will be provided.
If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible. We will provide a full refund if you cancel before 1st April. We cannot provide a refund if you cancel after this date, unless in exceptional circumstances. We will always contact you if we need to cancel the camp. In this case a full refund will be provided.
We discourage early collection as it can be disruptive to the young person and the rest of the group. However, we understand that sometimes it is necessary. If you need to collect your child early, please let us know as soon as possible. We will always contact you if we think it's best for your child to come home. As above, we discourage late drop-offs as it can interrupt the start of the camp for the young person and the rest of the group. However, we understand that sometimes it is necessary. If you need to drop your child off late, please let us know as soon as possible. If you're running late on the day, don't worry! We are aware that getting out of Newcastle can be difficult and time has been built into the schedule to allow for traffic, late arrivals and any other unforeseen circumstances.
